From Ideas to Models *Updated Again and Again*

Great Sage Mordax has been on my mind a lot lately as ultimately I have made very little progress on him.  It has been quite a lot of planning and ensuring that my chapter master is everything I want him to be.
So here is where I think I'm going to go with him, he'll be receiving some pre-heresy type shoulder pads and leg armor that I found while browsing through another blog (From the Warp).  I love going through this guys tutorials and pictures, definitely has been a source of inspiration.  But I am also thinking of using his true scaling technique to give him a little more size.  I am also thinking about modelling his shield to look similar to the chapter logo but I'm not very sure about it.  Past these additions I'm not 100% sure which way I'm going to move forward.  I love the idea of adding a cloak so I'll probably be adding one of those as well.  I feel like the cloak further shows that he is leadership.  Yet a major point that has been holding me up, is the fact that I want to paint as much as I can without assembling him.  This poses a variety of problems when I want to add a lot of detail to him with green stuff and plasticard.  We'll see how this weekend comes along, expecting a hurricane so I'm not sure very much work will get done anyways.

*Update*
I've been working on brother Mordax here for the past few hours and this is all i have thus far:
One lesson I've learned thus far is patience is absolutely necessary when converting a model.  I didn't wait long enough for the super glue to really set after this picture and started adding the green stuff to cover up the straw, big mistake!  The super glue broke free and he was all over the place.  I ended up filling the straw with super glue, letting that dry, then using super glue to attack that piece.  But in the process I created a mess of green stuff and super glue which is likely to limit how cool this guy is going to look.  Here he is while his extra armor cures:

The blue putty is Loctite Fun-Tak which is just poster tack I use to temporarily hold things together.  Now I am not all pleased with how his torso ended up looking, we'll see how it looks after I let it cure for a while then sand and cut it.  I'll keep updating this post as I make progress.
As the sun has dropped I have now completed a little more work after waiting for the green stuff to cure.  I used my X-Acto knife to cut away some of the excess green stuff on his torso and it looks a little better.

Now, I am using the pre-heresy shoulder pad templates made by Itkovian from his blog.  I'm currently at Step 3 or so on this tutorial from Ron at From the Warp.  As always, I'll update as I make progress.
Alright more to update: I lowered his arms as well as I could about a 1/3 as recommended once again by Ron (have I mentioned I love his work) and glued the arms on.

I then completed the shoulder pads didn't really add any ornamentation because I have some ideas for painting them.  Installed the shoulder pads and now I'm waiting for some green stuff to cure enough for me to work it into a cape.

I'm going to finish the cape tonight then I'm off to bed so I can wake up and prime him.  I'm still trying to work out the head, I love the look of the hood but I should of just bought a regular head then green stuffed a hood.  This particular bit just doesn't want to fit into the terminator armor.  Probably just going to file it down some more.
Luckily I'm all finished modelling for the night, definitely feel better with green stuff.  I think for a second attempt at modelling anything he turned out looking pretty good.  I'm crossing my fingers that painting I can cover up some of the mistakes I made modelling.  I'll be priming him in the morning and we'll see how far I can get painting him up.  So here he is; Great Sage Sigurn Mordax, Chapter Master of the Guardians of Silence. What do you think?
