Well with my weekend coming to a close (I have duty tomorrow), I look back and realize I have made very little progress on my army. Its almost like this weekend I had "painters block" just as writers do, I couldn't seem to paint anything right which led to frustration and quitting painting. That sums up the weekend, like no kidding. I did get spit on by a llama today, twice. Interestingly enough I wasn't sure they spit before today, I know everyone says they do but I wasn't quite sure. Now I can tell you with experience that llamas do in fact spit. Anyways, I did try my hand at green stuff and thus far its going to be a skill that I have to work on a lot more. One thing I did do this weekend was figure out what I wanted to do with my Chapter Master. I decided on terminator armor for him mostly because the chapter uses it extensively, this nullified my previous model I had for a chapter master (reference image). I also want him to use a weapon besides a sword, mostly because swords are rather common and I like the idea of something with a little more umpfh. I was thinking a halberd or hammer, most likely a halbred with a storm shield. I also want to used a hooded head for the model to continue the idea that the Guardians of Silence are war sages, mystics of death. Priced out I think I can get all the parts plus some for less than $25 which is expensive for one unit but he is sure to look bad ass. I also ordered a 5 man squad of Deathwing Terminators from the Dark Vengeance set off ebay (12 bucks! Couldn't resist!) and I will probably be working them over to be an honor guard for the Chapter Master but I don't know for sure yet. My wife was so kind to add up how much I've spent thus far in my 40k Adventure and I think I am at about $400 for the figures (well over 3000 pts worth) and about $200 for all the various hobby and storage supplies. Well I'm out of time, I have to get to bed. Here's some pictures of what I've been working on:

This is a scout I had painted previously as a 13th Company Scout. His face is kind of jacked up. |
Finished the purple outlining, later I ended up doing the silver parts and trying to get his face right (nightmare!). |
Pretty Cool Model, but I had just washed him to get the purple color I like for the outlining. |
This is what I was going to use for my Chapter Master, originally he was to be 13th Company's Captain and well now he'll be one of the Guardians of Silence's Captains. |

This is the guy I green stuffed today, not too terribly pleased with the results but I suppose its okay, gotta learn somehow. I did notice he has the inquisition logo on his shoulder and a filed one of his belt buckle, which is pretty cool. I obviously covered up his belt buckle one. Whoever owned him before me painted him pink, I have no idea what they were thinking and he didn't strip very well. Oh well I guess that's the nice thing about 40k everyone has their own way of doing things. |
